I’ve got a Polish mate who’s a roadie for a rock band. I’ve also got a Czech one too. We’ve been asking a series of not so embarrassing, pun lacking questions of the bands playing at this year’s FUTURE CITY FESTIVAL. This time around we talk to Auckland’s Dad Jokes!

HUP: Tell us about Dad Jokes!
Dad Jokes: Ian plays guitar, and Matt plays drums. We both sing but Ian tries to do it more than Matt. We’ve been around since 2014 and are based in Auckland.

HUP: How would you describe your band to someone that hasn’t heard you before?
Dad Jokes: The best we’ve heard is Weezer on coke.

HUP: What is our favourite song to play live?
Dad Jokes: We’ve got a bunch of new stuff that we’ve just finished writing so we’re pretty excited to play those live. Out of the old stuff, it would probably be JCVD.

HUP: Tell us about the best gig you’ve ever been to…(playing or not playing)
Dad Jokes: We got free tickets to see Kiss a few years ago so we took a bunch of mushrooms and it was the craziest time.

HUP: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at Future City 2018?
Dad Jokes: Datsuns.

HUP: Give us your best Hamilton fact or story!
Dad Jokes: Watching Rhett, the drummer from Contenders, drink two litres of chocolate milk during a set at Biddy Mulligans.
