We’ve been quizzing the bands playing at this year’s FUTURE CITY FESTIVAL. In this installment we talk to a band who doesn’t see themselves as a band, but instead as “a way of making music in the 21st Century”; DateMonthYear!
HUP: Tell us about DateMonthYear!
DateMonthYear: DateMonthYear is proudly based in Hamilton, and a proudly independent music experience featuring Emma Koretz (vocals), Brooke Baker (vocals, guitar, keys), Tyler Leet (guitar), Hayley Schwass (bass) and Trevor Faville (percussion).
HUP: How would you describe your band to someone that hasn’t heard you before?
DateMonthYear: Cinematic, female-fronted indie rock
HUP: What is your favourite song to play live?
DateMonthYear: That’s a tough one, but Favilles’ current fave is called Icarus.
HUP: Tell us about the best gig you’ve ever been to… (playing or not playing)
DateMonthYear: Well… the next one!
HUP: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at Future City 2018?
DateMonthYear: Cheshire Grimm and the Datsuns and Glass Shards.
HUP: Give us your best Hamilton fact or story!
DateMonthYear: ‘Mystery Creek’ (the venue for the Fieldays) gets its name from an unsolved murder in the 1890s; the venue is based now where they found the body!
